Founded in 1950, the St. Anthony Foundation is a nonprofit social service agency located in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood.  Inspired by the Franciscan tradition of joy, compassion & lived solidarity with those who are poor, the Foundation welcomes clients & guests, volunteers and interns, donors and all who hunger and thirst for justice and peace to share in it’s mission: to feed  heal, shelter, clothe, life the spirits of those in need & create a society in which all persons flourish. Volunteer positions at St. Anthony Foundation vary according to service location and day of the week.  Seven days per week a noon meal is served in the Dining Room (9:30 am to 1:30 p.m. is the usual shift).  During weekday business hours, volunteers can also assist in tasks ranging from sorting donations to socializing with seniors.   Minimum age is 13.   Call or email and leave your name and address to have a volunteer packet sent to you.  Orientation prior to volunteer service is required for all volunteers.  Orientations are held twice each month; RSVP at least two days prior to the orientation you would like to attend.
