Global Routes offer three- to five-week community service program ofer the summer. In the summer of 2007 destinations include Africa, Asia, Latin America, France and the Caribbean. From the Global Routes website: “Cross Cultural Exchange is an integral part of all Global Routes programs. Our summer foreign exchange programs for high school students are no different. Going beyond the limitations and boundaries in which you live in order to open your heart and mind to people and cultures radically different from your own–that is what is required of each participant enrolled in our summer foreign exchange programs.” Mark Friedman, Athenian’s Community Service Director, knows the directors of Global Routes well and was a leader for one of their trips; he can attest to Global Routes being a well-run program.
